1 Timothy 2:12

Greek	διδάσκειν δὲplugin-autotooltip__default plugin-autotooltip_bigδέ greek δέ is a conjunction that can mean “but” or “and” or “also” or “moreover”. It is a word that is used very frequently in the New Testament, and is often unexpressed and not translated in English. γυναικὶ οὐκ ἐπιτρέπω, οὐδὲ αὐθεντεῖν ἀνδρός, ἀλλ’ εἶναιplugin-autotooltip__default plugin-autotooltip_bigεἰμί greek εἰμί is the first person singular verb for “to be” (εἶναι [the infinitive form] = “to be”). It an irregular verb, and, like English, changes significantly between person and tense. For example εἰμί is the word for am and ἦν is the word for was, e.g. ἐνplugin-autotooltip__default plugin-autotooltip_bigἐν greek Preposition meaning “in”. ἡσυχίᾳ.
ESV	I do not permit a woman to teach or to exercise authority over a man; rather, she is to remain quiet.
NIV	I do not permit a woman to teach or to have authority over a man; she must be silent.
NLT	I do not let women teach men or have authority over them. Let them listen quietly.
KJV	But I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence.
