Ecclesiastes 2:13

Hebrew	וְרָאִ֣יתִי אָ֔נִי שֶׁיֵּ֥שׁ יִתְר֛וֹן לַֽחָכְמָ֖ה מִן הַסִּכְל֑וּת כִּֽיתְר֥וֹן הָא֖וֹר מִן הַחֹֽשֶׁךְ
ESV	Then I saw that there is more gain in wisdom than in folly, as there is more gain in light than in darkness.
NIV	I saw that wisdom is better than folly, just as light is better than darkness.
NLT	I thought, “Wisdom is better than foolishness, just as light is better than darkness.

IT is most frequently translated as “and” εἶδον ἐγὼ ὅτι ἔστινplugin-autotooltip__default plugin-autotooltip_bigεἰμί greek εἰμί is the first person singular verb for “to be” (εἶναι [the infinitive form] = “to be”). It an irregular verb, and, like English, changes significantly between person and tense.
